Guidelines for this year's
Norumbega Auction Canoe
  • Interested Bidders have three options to bid on the canoe in the Auction this year (you do not need to be in person at the Assembly Auction):

    • IN-PERSON BIDS will be taken during the auction.

    • TELEPHONE BIDS:  Any interested bidder may arrange to bid by telephone prior to the day of the auction. If you do not have a delegate at the Assembly Auction, the WCHA will provide a number to call to relay bids.

    • ABSENTEE BIDS: Any interested bidder may leave a bid with the appointed member of the Board of Directors. The auctioneer will bid on your behalf against other bidders, bidding incrementally on your behalf only as high as necessary to win, up to your maximum amount. On occasions the hammer price may fall on the maximum amount you have left; this will only be because there was a competing under bidder. In the event of identical bids the winning bid will be the first person to have left the absentee bid with the WCHA.

  • REGISTRATION: All bidders, including telephone and absentee bidders must register prior to bidding and will be given a permanent bidding number.  Telephone and Absentee bidding registration will open TWO WEEKS prior to the Assembly on Saturday June 27, 2026 and closes on Sunday, July 14, 2026. Prospective telephone and absentee bidders should call the WCHA Office to register or register online.  Registration for in-person bidding will occur at the Assembly.

  • PAYMENT: Payment is due at the end of the auction and can be made by cash, check credit card, Venmo or PayPal.

  • WINNING BID: On the basis that the winning bid exceeds the Reserve Price, the buyer has agreed to purchase the Canoe and must complete the transaction

  • COLLECTION: The winning bidder must arrange for the Canoe to be collected from the Assembly on the Saturday afternoon (July 18, 2026) either in person or by an appointed representative. The WCHA is not responsible for shipping or any associated costs.

  • RESERVE NOT MET: The reserve price must be met for the auction to continue.
