Clear Vertical Grain Western Red Cedar 1/2 x 6” Clapboards. I have two (2) 19’ and nine (9) 20’ new CVG Western red cedar clapboards. I also have a 4” x 6” CVG beam that’s 14’ long, a 4” x 4” clear beam that’s 12' long and some 2x6 and 2x5 stock.

I have priced the clapboards at $8 per linear foot and am open to pricing on the other dimensional cedar. I did get a price from the yard for a 4” x 6” x 14’ beam and they quoted me $78 per linear foot for the board and $1,000 for shipping, which struck me as quite harsh. The bottom line is that I am not likely to use these boards for my original deck project and want to sell them at a fair price. You folks please tell me what that is, and I will act accordingly.

A canoe maker came over and bought 10 of these clapboards, and he suggested that I post the rest on this site. I would much rather have these go to something artistic and requiring a lot of skill than simply nailing to the wall of a house and painting them. He also said some people would say that you’re supposed to use white cedar for canoe planking they’re not entirely correct. Old Town Canoe always used western red cedar for planking and white cedar for ribs. He’s the expert, not me.
