Excellent Fully Restored
Restoration of a 1900’s “Waltham, Courting Canoe. Serial # 717-17; Restored in 2016 by Northwoods Canoe company, Atkinson, Maine by Rollin Thurlow. The unique shape of the scroll work on the decks and the extended shape of the stem, the wide romantic thwarts, the method of planking the boat, and the extensive use of Mahogany trim all indicate that the boat is from the Charles River area in Mass. This style of canoe was very popular along the Charles River in the early 1900’s. Very few records are left of the several companies that built along the Charles River, but the boat seems to be from the Waltham Canoe company or the Kingsbury company, as both had very similar canoe styles.
Also included is a 7-page booklet by Rollin Thurlow of the complete rebuild.
