Bourquin Boats

Jeanne has been building the Atkinson Traveler, and her own design the Otter (16’6”, 60#, 30” wide.) since the early-1980’s. She also builds “Indian” versions that are 12” longer, adding hull speed but not much volume or weight. These are fast, pretty, canoes that track great for wilderness travel. Jeanne teaches build-your-own classes in her shop in Ely, MN and at North House Folk School, Grand Marais, MN, on beautiful Lake Superior. Jeanne’s husband Peter Pestalozzi (a furniture builder) helps with the milling, seats, canvassing, rib bending, and he also makes paddles. They do some repairs.
