Rare Kennebec rowboat canoe, made 1915. Belgrade rowboat model, serial number 411. Made by Kennebec Boat and Canoe Co., Waterville, ME. Three seats, two of the original oars signed D. Bateman. Two newer, smaller paddles. 17’ 4” long, 3’ 7” wide. Provenance: Company ledgers held in the Maine State Museum indicate that the canoe was planked by Mr. Farwell, March 27, 1915, and primed by Mr. Roy on the same day. It was railed by Mr. Legoff, April 10, 1915 and painted green by Mr. Green on the same day. It was shipped to D. Bateman in Tiverton, RI. Scans from the ledgers, which hold this information, are available upon request. The canoe has remained at the Tiverton property until the present day
Very good condition, restored in the 1970s, has been stored in a barn to the present day.
