Good Usable
It is with a heavy heart that I post this canoe for sale. It has been in our family for over 80 years. It hasn’t gotten wet in the last 10 years and deserves to be in the hands of someone who will paddle it and appreciate it.
This is a Carlton canoe, built in Old Town, Maine in 1922. It spent its entire life on Walloon Lake, Michigan, with the exception of a few side trips in Michigan. It is 16 feet long and had some professional repairs after some misadventures during the 1960s. I believe the cane seats are original. Circa 1960 my Dad removed the original canvas and covered it with fiberglass (this is what Dads did with wooden boats at the time).
This canoe is a little tippy compared to more modern canoes. It paddles like a dream. My 10-year-old self could paddle it single-handedly, swift and smooth.
