New
16' Prospector-Style Canoe

Excellent Original

This unique 16' Prospector-styled model is a new canoe with a vintage feel. Construction was started in 1986 by the instructors of a canoe building class, and then it was left in storage until last fall when we received it from a client as a trade-in on a restoration project on his Chestnut canoe. The canoe was put in canvas before it was stored but the wood was left unfinished. The old canvas was removed, the hull was given a fresh sanding and coat of linseed oil and a new canvas and filler were applied.

A two-part wood cleaning treatment of the interior revealed the rich patina that only time creates. The beauty of the wood tone is further enhanced by a matte finish UV varnish. The interior is finished off with cherry decks, thwarts, carrying yoke and hand-caned seat frames, all beautifully framed by aged ash gunnels . An elegant Seattle Grey marine paint and brass stem bands provide the finishing touches on this one of a kind model.

The finishing touches were professionally added by Lone Pine Canoe Company. All fasteners used on this canoe are brass or bronze.
