18' Chestnut Voyageur (Prospector)

Excellent Restored

One owner, purchased in 1971, used for several wilderness trips in northern Canada, restored by an expert wood canvas canoe builder in 1995, then stored in a dry garage. Used only a few times after restoration. Two wooden laminated paddles included (see photo).

The 18 foot Chestnut Voyageur (Prospector) is widely regarded as the ultimate wilderness tripping canoe. The Chestnut Canoe Company invented a winning combination of maneuverability, ease of paddling and staying exceptionally dry in big water. With high sides, substantial arch in the bottom and lots of “rocker” in the full ends, this canoe is designed to transport heavy loads quickly through rapid rivers and large, challenging lakes. It becomes very stable as weight is loaded into the canoe — the safe load is over 1000 pounds, making it perfect for extended trips. Check out the following links:
